Install Molt
Install from the Shopify App Store, approve two permissions, and open the Themes page.
Install Molt from the Shopify App Store. You sign in through Shopify, so there's no separate account or password.
Permissions
Shopify asks you to approve two permissions:
| Permission | What Molt does with it |
|---|---|
| Read themes | Reads your theme files to back them up and compare them with the original release |
| Write themes | Creates new unpublished themes, adds files to them, publishes when you click Publish, and removes drafts it made |
Molt holds no permission for products, orders or customers.
The Themes page
Molt opens on Themes. Your live theme is at the top, with your other themes below it. Each theme shows one status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A release is available | A newer version of this theme exists, and Molt can prepare an upgrade |
| Current | This theme is on the newest release Molt knows |
| No clean copy | Molt doesn't hold the original release of this theme. See Supported themes |
