Supported themes
Molt upgrades Dawn and Horizon, the free themes Shopify makes.
To tell your edits from the theme maker's, Molt needs a clean copy of the release your theme started from. It holds clean copies of these releases.

Molt checks for new releases every six hours.
Other themes
Any other theme shows No clean copy. You can still back it up and restore it. Molt can't list its customizations or prepare an upgrade.
When your theme's label is wrong
A theme states its version in config/settings_schema.json, and the label can be out of date. Molt compares your files with its releases and uses the one that clearly fits best. The review page names the release it compared against, which can differ from the version on the badge.
Themes on Shopify's store and in GitHub
Copies from Shopify's Theme Store can differ slightly from the public release, such as in blank lines and default content. Molt allows for this, so a fresh Horizon reads as unchanged code.
